This was a collaboration with Merlin Perry in which we created
a short scene using lyrics from 'White Christmas'
This was my first introduction to using Blender and I wanted to explore both the sculpting and the grease pencil features. Coming from an illustration background, I wanted to approach this project with a 2D workflow in mind, so while exploring grease pencil features, I also utilised Blender's Frame by Frame animation tools,
Beginning from an initial lip sync test of Santa singing a song, we built the project around this as the focal point and Merlin began to create and animate assets to create the world around Santa, ensuring the texturing aligned with the handdrawn Grease Pencil lines.
Here's a closer look at the Santa head animation. Sculpted and drawn over with the grease pencil in blender, finished off with some keyframe animation for the head rotation.
Below is a series of behind the scenes footage showing the process of how we created the animation
Songs used: White Christmas - Bing Crosby,
I don't want to set the world on fire - The Ink Spots

Software: Blender, After Effects
